Happy Monday...

Happy Monday!
It's totally ok to start using the word "happy" in front of Monday when it's after 5:00 pm.

The weather was fabulous this weekend in Minneapolis which made for an even more fabulous weekend!

On Friday night Hubby MD and I went to the usual watering hole by our house (is it sad all the bartenders know us by name and some even know where we live??) for some end-of-the-longest-work-week-ever cocktails.  Delicious.

Cold. Refreshing. Delicious.

Saturday was an interesting day...

Hubby MD and the boys (most by the way are single, so if you have any single friends that are looking LMK as I think I will start taking applications so I can get some girls into our crew) all went golfing and I had a much anticipated day to myself.

Well, by 10:30 I talked myself into thinking I was having an appendicitis and went to the clinic.  In my defense, I had not been feeling well ALL week (no, not preggo but that's been the #1 prognosis) with really bad stomachaches and now the pain had shifted to my right side.

At the clinic they told me that I needed to provide a urine sample.  Sure, no big deal... unless you just went to the bathroom before you left the house and drove 1 mile to the clinic.  So, they had me drink literally 10 glasses of water to get things going again.

In the mean time they thought it would be fun to take that opportunity to get my weight and height.  Looking for a way to kill your self-confidence and go into a self-pity depression?  Drink 10 glasses of water and then immediately go weight yourself.  I requested that number not go into my file as I never needed to see it again.  Seriously.

Next was temperature.  Oh wait, no temperature as my mouth was too cold from all the water to read the thermometer.

Yep, things were off to a great start at the clinic.  Don't worry they got better - next stop was to get blood drawn.  Ugh!  So, after all the lab work was done and the doctor poked around I went home with my appendices still in-tact.

After the appendicitis debacle I did what I intended to do with my day to begin with - go for a run and go get a massage and facial.  It was fabulous.  I still didn't feel 100%, but was relieved to know I was going to make it another day.

Sunday was one of those days I never wanted to end...

I drank coffee in my PJ's while reading the Sunday paper and organizing my kitchen.

Reggie and I met some friends at the dog park for a chilly morning walk, and it was awesome.

Reg begged for an ice coffee from Starbucks the whole way home so I finally caved and got him one.

Sunday afternoon the weather was perfect to pound the pavement and jam out.  Busted out over 6.5 miles while jamming to some old school Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Did I tell you I got tickets to their concert in October in Minneapolis?  Pretty excited.

And if an already fabulous weekend couldn't better I went and made this scrumptious Shrimp & Asparagus Linguini...

Happy Hubby MD.  Happy Tummy.  Happy Life.

A Love Affair with Mason Jars...

As of late I've been obsessing over mason jars.  I just can't seem to get enough of them, especially the blue ones.

I have wine corks in them.

I use the use as vases.

I serve drinks out of them.

I use them to send home wine with friends.

Hubby MD's aunt is moving to Colorado and selling the farm, literally.  I found boxes and boxes full of old mason jars on our last visit and I thought I was going to explode with excitement.  I brought a bunch home, and more have to yet make their way to their new home... on my laundry room shelf.

Now, what I am going to do with my new mason jar collection...

Any other ideas?

Wow...

I can't believe how long I've been away from blogging...

I've appreciated all the emails from some of my favorite followers requesting that I come back.

First things first, I had fully intended on starting back up after the holidays, but as you know I didn't.  I've been at my new job for almost 5 months and honestly the last 5 months have kicked my butt!  For real, kicked my butt.

So, what have I been up to besides the usual work, running, cooking, and sipping cocktails?

Well, like I said work has been keeping me busy.  In the past couple months I've been to Savannah, Chicago twice, and LA.  I have trips on the horizon to NYC, Chicago, and possibly Europe. So far I've been loving the new gig and I'm especially loving the flexibility to work from wherever I want.  Our marketing department has 150 people and no-one has a cube or office.  We have a really modern campus with booths, high-top tables, couches, etc. and you just come to work when you need to be on-site and find a place to plug-in your laptop and work.  If you don't have any meetings that require you to be in-person then you can work from home, Starbucks, or wherever you can get wireless signal!  It's so nice to have the flexibility I've been craving for years.

Not only did I start my "real" new job 5 months ago I also joined a team of some awesome entrepreneurs at the same exact time and launched this fabulous new company - Cliquor Store!  We are on online deal site that will save you 20- at 50% at your local liquor store.  We're basically like a Groupon, but only for deals on alcohol!  If you love liquor, you'll love Cliquor!  You know we love cocktails around this blog so it was obviously a great fit for me to be apart of this team!  If you're interested, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!

The most exciting news --- my Bestie L moved back home to Minneapolis!  If you live in the area you may have seen her on TV recently... she's the new meteorologist at Kare 11!  SO awesome, right?

Obviously I'm her #1 fan and couldn't be more proud of her!  You can find her filling in as needed right now, and every Thursday at 6 pm for Simply ScienceSuch a great opportunity for her career wise, and she gets to be back home with her family and ME! :)

After much hesitation I caved and joined Twitter... and became obsessed.  Can you say, #socialmediawhore?  Follow me here!  Oh, because I am such a #socialmediawhore of course I'm obsessed with Pinterest too - follow me here!

No baby news for Hubby MD and I to share, sorry.  Speaking of babys though, I feel like I'm the only person without child these days.  My Facebook wall is taken over by baby photos, baby announcements, and baby advice questions.  I feel like I have a baby shower every weekend... I'm becoming a master at all the games.  I bet you didn't know a baby fish is called a Fry.  I picked up that interesting tidbit at a shower yesterday... I think I was the only twenty-something sans child in attendance.

It feels great to blog again - I've missed it and all of you.  Glad to be back.

Cheers!
